CCTV is recommended to be installed in Public and school buses for several reasons, some of the same are

• Safety & security of the passengers / riders and ensuring availability of evidence of crime or any untowards incident.
• Monitoring of driving behaviour and ensuring smooth transport operations.
• Security, maintenance of vehcilular asset and collection of evidence, incase any damage is caused to the vehicle by a 3rd party vehicle or general public in an outrage / incident.
• Reduction of liability in case of any untowards accident.
• School Bus Surveillance becomes necessary due to undiscerning nature of children. Security cameras offer extra pair of eyes while navigating harsh road conditions and unruly traffic.

Global Positioning System (GPS) unit is a device used to determine and track the precise location of an asset, person or vehicle. It also records the location at regular intervals. It is achieved with the help of GPS satellites and is mainly used for security purposes. School Bus GPS tracking system or School Bus Tracker is used in to track the location of school vehicles and buses. Incase of integrated GPS and Video, GPS meta data is tagged with video footage. It becomes very easy to smart search video evidence based on a specific location incidents. Our range of mDVR’s have built in GPS modules, which provide integrated data feed, so that GPS routing and video can be monitored and re-played together in an integrated fashion.

• Transport grade devices are designed for Anit-vibration proof functionality. Digital Video recording devices have magnetic recording chips, incase of high vibration, normal DVR’s fail within some time.
• Transport grade devices use aviation grade strewing type of connectors to ensure that the same are not loosened during the motion & jerks.
• Electronic components used in transport grade devices are shielded with inductors for radiation protection against electromagnetic interference.
• Transport grade device use buck boost circuit DC battery power 8-38VDC with super capacitance to provide extra 10s running time when external power suddenly get cut off. Devices are protected from ultra-high voltage pulse.
• mDVR’s can be mounted in any of the 360 direction, based on space availability in the vehicle
• All Transport grade devices including cameras are vandal proof, dust proof and water resistant, which become a necessity to comply with in school bus surveillance solution.

Following are the recommendations for a School Bus Surveillance;

• In a Midi bus for up to 24 Seater with single entry-exit door, a minimum of 2 cameras must be installed. One over looking at driver, one at the entry-exit door and for general passenger seating area. Additional cameras for general passengers and overlooking from inside of the windscreen for view and recording the journey is recommended.
• In a Standard bus for up to 30 Seater with One each entry and exit door, a minimum of 3 cameras must be installed. One over looking at driver, one each at entry and exit door. Additional cameras for general passengers and overlooking from inside of the windscreen for view and recording the journey is recommended.
• We can also supply & install a camera for reverse or rear view of the vehicle.

M1 & X1 series of mDVR’s support a total of 5 Cameras each, 4 AHD ( Analogue High Definition ) and 1 IP Camera. X3 Series mDVR support total of 6 cameras each, 4 AHD and 2 IP Cameras. We have mDVR’s which can support upto 12 to 24 Nos of CCTV cameras as well with integrated GPS. In advance countries it is requirement to install cameras inside as well outside of the buses, to minimize accident related insurance claims and liabilities.

• Real time cloud based enables us to monitor live video while vehicle is on the move, using dual streaming 3G data connectivity.
• Inacse of any untowards incident or reported accident, the same can be verified instantly and support to driver and riders can be provided. Video monitoring any time any where, to understand critical alarm situation in time.
• GPS, Alarm, event etc. metadata is saved on the cloud server in real time.
• Dual streaming ensures that the video is being recorded on the mDVR at the same time, critical data and alarms are pushed to the cloud with notifications.
• Real time School bus surveillance and real-time monitoring greatly helps in managing mischievous acts of children.

• For School Bus Surveillance applications, as a standard we provide 10GB Storage per month in our Cloud Server. Data for each bus/mDVR is stored for a period of 60 days
• Technically it is possible to have 100% video recording backed up on the cloud, but there are connectivity and cost constraints towards 3G Data transfer and cloud Storage space. Hence it is advisable that only alarm data is stored on the Cloud server
• We offer flexible data transfer and storage plans to select best suitable plan for your need

Storage capacity of the device will depend upon, frame rate, resolution and number of hours to be recorded per day
M1 Series mDVR with 2 Nos of 32GB SD Cards and 2 Cameras, at 25 fps, D1 resolution, with quality medium 4, will be good enough for 9 days, considering 8 hours of operation every day (Per Camera 72 Hours)
M1 Series mDVR with 2 Nos of 64GB SD Cards and 3 Cameras, at 25 fps, D1 resolution, with quality medium 4, will be good enough for 12 days, considering 8 hours of operation every day (Per camera 96 hours)
X1 Series mDVR with one nos of 500GB HDD and 2 Cameras, at 25 fps, D1 resolution, with quality medium 4, will be good enough for 60 days, considering 8 hours of operation every day (Per camera 480 hours)
X1 Series mDVR with one nos of 500GB HDD and 3 Cameras, at 25 fps, D1 resolution, with quality medium 4, will be good enough for 45 days, considering 8 hours of operation every day (Per camera 360 hours)
X1 Series mDVR with one nos of One TB HDD and 4 Cameras, at 25 fps, D1 resolution, with quality medium 4, will be good enough for 60 days, considering 8 hours of operation every day (Per camera 480 hours)

• It is advisable that the mDVR’s are powered thru iginition switch only, so that systems operate when in operation, recording also occurs only when vehicle is started. Though mDVR’s do not draw much power, but battery drainage is restricted, when devices are powered thru ignition switch.
• As a standard Bus MDVR should be powered thru ignition only, as it is expected when Bus ignition is off, there is no activity in the bus.
• It should also be noted that if the MDVR is powered, recording will continue in the MDVR and consume SD/HDD space, besides 3G data consumption – in case of live view.
• In case customer requires – direction connection with battery, accordingly SD/HD card and 3G data concerns should be addressed, besides battery drainage.

• In this case the MDVR should be configured with Wifi module as well. As a standard M1 & X1 Series support 2 modules GPS and 3G for real time live monitoring, it may not be possible to to have Wifi module in these.
• In specific case MDVR models M1 or X1, with GPS +Wifi module can be provided, but it should noted that real time connectivity will depend on Wifi Internet availability in the bus.
• X3 Series MDVR can be made available with 3G + GPS + Wifi Modules. Please contact sales for pricing and proposal.

We at Alba Smart offer multiple options, where in we can align customer with 3G Data service provider for direct post paid 3G billing or Customer can also available bundled comprehensive service plan option – where 3G Data, Cloud storage, CMS services based on selected package. Our solution use dual stream 3G/4G data, reducing the overall requirement of the bandwidth and data.

Currently we are offering M1, X1 & x3 series with 3G module, incase any custmer requires 4G Data support, specific MDVR’s will have to be ordered, and there will be a cost differential for the same.

Our mDVR’s support 1) Video Loss, 2) Motion Detection, 3) Camera Cover, 4) STorage eception / fault, 5) Panic alarm, 6) Vehicle Low speed 7) Vehicle High Speed 8) Geo Fence 9) High Temperature alarms . In addition 8 external input and out alarms external Panic , External temperature A/C sensing, door open / close sensing etc. As a standard we propose Panic Switch to be installed in the buses. mDVR also support certain software / GPS based alarms such as GeoFencing alarm – an area of interest can be earmarked to send out an alarm, in case bus enters / exists a certain area of concern. mDVR also support’s high speed driving alarms, which can be tagged with video footage for evidence for driver behaviour monitoring.

• Supreme court laid down elaborate guidelines in 1997 for school bus operations across the country to minimise risk to the lives of school children.
• Ministry of Raod Transport and Highways (MORTH) issued a Gazette notification on 28/11/2016 that all Public Transportation vehicles to have location tracking device and emergency buttons, in accordance with AIS-140: 2016, as amended from time to time, till such time the corresponding BIS specifications are notified under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 1986.
• On 11th April 2017 Lok Sabha approved a bill for radical reforms in transport sector in an effort to reduce traffic violations, increase compensation, check bogus licences and control vehicle theft.
• Central Board Of Secondary Education (CBSE ) has mandated School Bus Surveillance and School Bus GPS Tracking System wide notification dated 23/02/2017 making GPS and CCTV compulsorily in each of the school bus. It has been further directed to ensure system in complete working conditions at all times (Real time monitoring)
• Due to different circumstances, each of the state Govt and State Police departments have issued certain additional guidelines / requirements for school buses. In state of Karnataka GPS and CCTV have been made compulsory in school buses and have specified that the footage of the CCTV must be kept for 60 days and must be handed over to the police in case of any investigation purpose.
• Delhi State Govt on 20th June 2017 has directed DTC to have minimum 3 CCTV Cameras professionally installed with transport grade equipment in each of the buses, with proper recording and real time monitoring at the central control room.
